Is Affiliate Marketing Dead

When I look around on the internet, quite often I come across some comments about the future of affiliate marketing. Is Affiliate Marketing Dead concerns many people.

What is the trend and where are we going with affiliate marketing in 2017?

Just recently, Kyle, co-founder of Wealthy Affiliate University, blogged about the very same subject.

His post was an eye opener, and the numbers Kyle published were just mind boggling.

Before I get into more detail, what is affiliate marketing? make money online

Affiliate Marketing is a very simple process. You promote a companies product and services and get paid a commission for each sale.

You basically connect a companies product with the customer through your website.

The cool part is that the customer doesn’t pay more for the product regardless if he buys it through an affiliate link or directly from the company.

It is a win-win for everyone: The company gets more sales, the affiliate marketer earns money (makes an income), and the customer made an informed decision and buys a high-quality product.

How Do You Promote The Products

Here is a graphic that will show you the process.

process of affiliate marketing

1.) You choose an interest. That is the cool part about affiliate marketing. You are going to write something that you feel passionate about, or you have lots of knowledge.
Imagine, to get up every morning and doing what you like to do.

2.) You build a website. Sounds scary? Well, it is not, click here and I will show you How To Build A Free Website. Yes, it is really free!

3.) Your site will attract visitors. Getting visitors is something you will achieve by adding helpful content about your chosen interest. The more blogs and posts you are going to publish the more visitors will come to your site.

4.) You will earn revenue. Earning revenue is the part where it gets really exciting. While you are writing content, you will also promote products you love and use.
A good way is to do it through product reviews. These products will have your affiliate links attached. So if a person clicks on the link and makes a purchase, you will earn a commission.

These numbers will increase over the next few years as well.

Here are a few more things you need to know about affiliate marketing.

All Major Online Brands Are Built on Affiliate Marketing. Amazon, Apple, HP, Best Buy, Etsy… you name it. Without affiliate programs, and affiliates, these companies would have WAY less marketshare online. The likes of Amazon have built their empire off of affiliates, it is rare these days when doing research on a product or service you don’t come across an Amazon affiliate site. • There are over 500 Million products you can promote through your website. The number of affiliate programs and affiliate networks is constantly increasing.
Instead of investing in an ad campaign, companies rather invest into their affiliate programs. The risk of losing money is lower because they only pay when a sale has been made.
There is zero risk for the company involved. So investing in an affiliate program makes perfect sense.
  • People are spending more and more money online. Look at yourself: How often have you bought something online because it is convenient,  available in an instant and often cheaper?
Sure, I am trying to support local businesses, but it is more convenient to browse the internet and find the best offer, compare products and prices.
Being an affiliate marketer myself, I appreciate the effort fellow affiliate entrepreneurs put into their sites and try to purchase through their links.

Affiliate marketing is here to stay, I agree. The reason is like you say, it’s like a free form of advertising for companies. They only pay a commission when a product is sold rather than gamble huge amounts on advertising.

Building a website and attracting visitors does take time, there’s no doubt but this is a very low cost way of starting and running a business compared with the traditional methods of premises and staff however you are open 24/7 across the world rather than down a high street.

There’s no stock to purchase and hold, no postage duties and no returns to deal with either leaving the affiliate time to concentrate on publishing posts. It’s important to choose a subject you are passionate about and determination to write posts regularly is key however over time you keep building your presence and grounding your establishment to become a trustworthy author within your niche leading on to accomplishing conversions.

How long have you been affiliate marketing?
    Simon.

Hi, Simon, Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate your time. Yes, affiliate marketing is a huge business opportunity and as you pointed out, it takes time and determination. It can be frustrating at times when no one is visiting your site especially in the early stages. The time factor plays a huge role.

I have been in affiliate marketing for over a year now. It is a constant learning curve which I love. It keeps things interesting and motivating. I love the process of building up my sites and how they are evolving over time.

It is fantastic to wake up every morning and doing what I love doing. Researching, writing and helping people out with my content.

Hi there, I have been doing affiliate marketing for 3 years now and I don’t think it’s anywhere near dead. I follow a few affiliate networks newsletters and constantly see new companies adopting this marketing technique for their brand.

It helps to expedite their online presence through blogging approach which is more personal and social. If you do a quick search for any type of product reviews, most often you will find affiliate blogs in the top results of the search engines.

The only thing that’s dying is hard-selling, like those you get from MLM companies. In modern age marketing where people have more consumer choices, recruiting for profit is not really that popular anymore.

Hi Cathy, thanks so much for your comment. Affiliate marketing is an inexpensive way for a company to advertise their products. If there are no sales then they don’t need to pay out money. Simple yet effective for both sides.

I agree with you that hard-selling like with MLM companies will become less popular. The incentive that drives people doing MLM is the promise to make money quick and easy.

To make money with affiliate marketing takes much longer but is more sustainable in the long-term.

      Cheers Anke
