Writing a The Hoth review has been on my list for a long time, but I have been putting it off for various reasons. The most important one is the fact that I am no expert in explaining technical things like what is web 2.0 properties, PBN link building, and the likes.
I have found it hard to get my head around terms like white hat and black hat link building strategies. Here is an excellent post by the MOZ that explains these link building strategies in a simple easy to understand way.
What I do have experienced is that link building to your website or blog can improve your rankings in Google and ultimately increases your passive income especially when your posts with buying terms (product reviews) are found on the first page in the search engines.
My post explains how The Hoth can help you with their white hat SEO service to boost your rankings. How does it work? What is my experience with The Hoth? Did it work for me? Would I use The Hoth again?

What Is The Hoth
First up a little bit about what The Hoth is all about. The Hoth is a White Label SEO service for online businesses like online agencies, local marketing firms, and affiliate marketers.
They have been around since 2010 and have consistently built out and diversified their services.
The service includes the building of high-quality backlinks to your website, as well as an additional service building links by guest blogging on your behalf.
They recently added a hands-free writing service (including keyword research) for people who just don’t have the time to add quality content to their sites.
Here is a screenshot of the welcome page with some of The Hoth’s service offers.
As you can see, the interface is pretty straightforward. You can either take a detailed tour by clicking on the link to get more information or place an order.
I felt a bit overwhelmed by these different options. But was helped me tremendously was a review that was talking in more detail about “The Hoth mini package” which starts at $60.
So I can only comment on this package and the results for two of my websites.
The Hoth Link Building Package And How It Works
In March 2017 I felt a bit frustrated about the progress of two of my websites. One is my family travel blog which is in a highly competitive niche and the second one is a product related niche site.
Traffic was only a trickle, and despite adding content on a regular basis, rankings seemed stagnant. So I did my due diligence and researched ways of boosting my rankings that would still comply with the search engines rules and policies.
White-hat techniques are the only way I would recommend to build long-term success online without risking to get penalized by good old Google.
The reviews about The Hoth link-building packages were mainly talking about the higher priced packages at a price tag of around $250 which was not in my budget.
But there was one article talking about positive results he had achieved with the $60 ‘The Hoth mini package’ that sounded very intriguing.
Here is the screenshot of my two orders plus a Hoth special offer that was included in my first order.
For The Hoth mini packages, you need to choose the category your niche is in. In my case, it is in the ‘Home and Garden’ niche. From there, you chose three urls for the articles you would like to give a boost. The next step is to choose two keyword phrases for each URL. The Hoth makes some suggestions, and I think, it’s a good idea to make use of it.
After all, they know what they are doing!
All you need to do now is to hit the submit button and make your payment. Now it’s time to sit back and relax.
The Hoth’s link building strategy is multi-tiered. For cheaper link-building packages they are using Filipino writers that produce standard content, and that is Copyscape checked.
After The Hoth has finished the order (after three weeks in my case), you’ll receive a white label report.
The whole process is very easy and straightforward. It can be hard to decide on a package, but it really depends on what you would like to achieve and how much money you are willing to spend.
The customer service is fantastic with live chat and quick email response. You can even book a phone call and get more personal advice.
Here are the results for my product niche site (first order): After six month ordering the mini package, two out of three URL’s (posts) made it on the first page of Google and had earned me good money. The third post didn’t move much in rankings.
The results for my family travel blog: no significant changes in rankings for my three chosen articles. Funny enough though, another product review post which was not included in the order is now on page one on Google.
The reason for the not so great result for my travel blog is the high competition. To increase the rankings, it takes a lot of high-quality links from authority sites. So instead of paying for backlinks I am writing guest posts for different travel blogs and in return receive a few do-follow links to my blog.
Overall, I think for smaller product related niche sites The Hoth mini package is a good starting point, but for more competitive niches, you may have to put more money on the table and invest in higher priced packages.
All in all, I am happy with the results and have learned a lot about link building and increasing the domain authority for my sites in the process.
But I would like to mention that there is still a low-risk of being penalized by Google since they don’t want people to buy backlinks.
Some Other Cool Features The Hoth Offers
There is a lot to like about The Hoth. Not only do they offer a high-quality white-hat link building service. Once you open an account (for free) you get access to a free keyword research tool and search engine rankings powered by Semrush.
The Search Engine Ranking tool is great for spying on your competitors an to find new keywords you may have never thought of. To me this tool is invaluable.
The Hoth also offers an affiliate program where you can earn up to 25% of each order referred by you (the order has to be placed in within the first 60 days after they register).
No matter if you are planning to order a package or not, I highly recommend to sign up with The Hoth, learn more about SEO, and take advantage of these free tools. You only need to type in your email address.
What Are The Pros And Cons In A Nutshell
Here are the Pros:
- Easy to navigate interface
- Excellent customer service
- White label report
- A variety of service from link building to guest posts, writing service and so much more
- Reasonable priced
- No monthly subscription
- Permanent links
- No upsells
- Links are looking natural
- Choose from U.S writers or Filipino writers
What Are The Cons?
Buying backlinks can be risky and could cause a penalty by Google.
There is no guarantee that despite link building, your posts still won’t rank on Google “Holy Grail” page 1.
Keep producing quality content. Don’t sit back and think that link building is everything. It’s not.
Does The Hoth Work? My Verdict
Even though I have seen mixed results with The Hoth mini package, I am happy with the overall results. The $120 I invested have been long earned back via my Amazon earnings.
It may be different if you spend $250 or more and don’t see massive results. But $60 is a relatively small investment and was worth it in the end.
For me, The Hoth is a valuable tool in becoming a successful internet marketer and made it into my top list of Tools And Resources To Build A Successful Blog.
Please be aware though that there is still a low-risk of being penalized by Google for buying backlinks. That is important to keep in mind.
Their customer service is outstanding and the packages are good value for money, considering that we are talking about permanent links. Other services only offer links that stay live for maybe a few months.
I’d love to hear if you had any experience with The Hoth, good or bad. What other tools and services would you recommend?
