It is most likely that you are reading this post because you are looking for a legit work from home business opportunity or you may just want to find a way to supplement your current income.

The travel industry is a billion dollar industry and becoming a travel agent seems to be an attractive way to make a steady income.

But should you get involved with Global Travel International (GTI) and become an Independent Travel Agent (ITA)?

Can you make a decent income with this business opportunity or should you stay away?

To be clear from the beginning, GTI  is not an MLM company, even though you can earn money by referring others to become an ITA with Global Travel International.

Global Travel was founded in 1994 by Michael Gross and Randy Warren, It is a privately owned company with its headquarters in Maitland, Florida.

According to the company, they have over 40 000 members/agents in 85 countries worldwide.

Here is something to note before you carry on reading. GTI refers to the Independent Travel Agents also as members which can be confusing at times.

This is mainly due to the fact that GTI offers different memberships which I will explain in more detail going forward.

The GTI Membership

To become a travel agent with Global International, you will need to sign up for one of the memberships, GTI offers.

At the moment (August 2019) they have a special available as you can see on the screenshot. How long the special deal lasts is of course not known.

But usually, the silver membership costs $299, the gold membership is $399, and platinum goes for $499.

In comparison to InteleTravel, the platinum membership would be still cheaper than paying $179.95 plus 39.95 every month for a year (as you have to with InteleTravel) which adds up to $659.35.

The GTI membership renews annually for the same price.

- Priority Toll 1-800 Number
- Familiarization Trips
- Largest Hotel Discount

All memberships give you access to a personalized website which they call Resmax website. There, customers can book their own travels and you as travel agent earn the commission.

GTI works with well-known suppliers like Southwest airline, Carnival, Royal Caribbean International, Hertz, Avis, and Viking Cruises, just to name a few.

Global Travel International also offers a price match guarantee. So, if you find a cheaper travel package, they are committed to match it.

How To Join GTI

Joining as a member or travel agent is pretty straightforward. First, decide on your preferred membership, fill in your details, pay, and get started.

I assume that many people will sign up to save money on their own travels.

You can not only access discounted prices on accommodation, and cruise packages, but you can earn a commission as well.

So, if you are a vivid traveler, it may be worth to consider. I assume, the cheapest membership would be sufficient in this case.

Training Opportunities

Of course, if you become a travel agent without prior experience, you'll need to educate yourself.

GTI offers a variety of training tools and opportunities.

1. Webinars with topic including orientation, procedures, sales techniques, marketing etc.
2. Teleconferences with recorded sessions.
3. A marketing center with promotional tools, internet marketing advice , and more.

The GTI Commission Payments

There are two ways that you can get paid.

You can refer new members to GTI and get paid a cash bonus of $100 for each referral.

The second way is to get paid travel sales commissions which ranges from 5%, 7%. and 9%, depending on your chosen membership.

The minimum payout is $50, and payment will be made 30 to 60 days after the travel as finished.

It looks like that Global Travel focuses on cruise packages. They also recommend to tap into the market of group travels so you earn a higher commission.

Conclusion - Is Global Travel International A Scam

No, I don't think that Global International is a scam based on what I found out in my research.

It is a legit way of becoming a travel agent by working from home without any additional or hidden costs.

My biggest concern though is the fact that the company has received lots of complaints and negative reviews on the Better Business Bureau.

So, if you are thinking of joining this business opportunity, I would recommend to have a closer look at the reviews.

Also, I don't think that the 14-day trial is long enough to decide whether it is worth joining the company or not. 

Ultimately, the decision is up to you. You may also like to check out InteleTravel which operates very similar but offers a 30-day money back guarantee.

My Recommended Business Model

Global Travel International might be a good way to save money on your own travels but it may be quite hard to make a reliable income as an Independent Travel Agent.
