Sunset Gourmet  is a direct-selling food company based in Manitoba, Canada. The company story says that it all started when 3 good friends shared the same dream of building a business in 2005.

On the corporate website, only 2 photos of the founders are posted, that of Audrey Stewart and Perry Bohn. I could not find any background information about Perry Bohn prior to founding Sunset Gourmet.

But, I saw Audrey’s profile on Linkedin and it is stated there that she had 28 years of experience in sales with an office products and services company before founding Sunset Gourmet.  

The company supports charity works by donating some amount to the Canadian Feed the Children organization. It also offers fundraisers for community groups, organizations, pet shelters, school groups, and many more.

How Can You Join Sunset Gourmet

The  Sunset Gourmet Compensation Plan

Sunset Gourmet’s compensation plan is briefly explained on its corporate website. It says there that as a consultant, you can earn up to 38% of sales commission.

There is also a mention of leadership bonuses and travel incentives. The details for these bonuses though are not explained completely.

In one of the company’s flyers that is available on this link, there is a mention of a team sales bonus that can go up to 6%. 

Also, the company offers a 30-day quick-start program where consultants can earn the following on their first 30 days:

• Free Sunset Gourmet Insulated Cooler Tote - for reaching qualifying sales of $300
• Free Sunset Gourmet Logo’D Apron - for reaching qualifying sales of $600 
• $69 Account Credit - for reaching  $1000 qualifying volume sales after enrolling at $69 jump start kit
• $139 Account Credit - for reaching $1500 qualifying volume after enrolling at $139 business deluxe kit.

Can You Make Money With Sunset Gourmet?

Sunset Gourmet has no income disclosure statement so we cannot really show actual figures here about how much an average consultant earns from the business or how much the top consultants can actually earn.

In one video of the co-founder posted on Sunset’s Gourmet official Facebook page, she mentioned that some of the consultants were earning thousands of dollars and some were earning a couple of hundreds.

However, without an income disclosure statement, this could not be formalized or could serve as a guarantee in some ways. 

There are consultants’ testimonies as well, but there are no mentions of their specific earnings as consultants.

Looking at the few details on how consultants can earn from the business, just like in most MLM companies, you need to sell the products and recruit members to your team as there’s a mention of a leadership bonus.

The quick start bonus mentions a qualifying volume sales and whether or not it refers to your personal volume only or together with your team’s volume is unclear.

The good thing about the quick start bonus program is that it does not require directly for you to have personally sponsored consultants yet although having a downline could help you in increasing your sales volume if their sales could be counted. 

The fact however remains that the company has no income disclosure statement and we wonder why is this so.

Conclusion - Is Sunset Gourmet The Right Party Plan Business For You?

Finding the right party plan business that is best for you is not an easy task. In this review, we bring our focus to Sunset Gourmet.

We know that the company is a legal company with headquarter in Canada. It supports charity works and helps organizations in launching fundraising activities.

The company is listed in Better Business Bureau with an A+ trust rating. It has been operating for 16 years now offering food products to add gourmet flavors to your home-cooked meals.

It also offers an opportunity for people to start a business from home at a minimal cost. 

However, on the business side of things, Sunset Gourmet is lacking in some aspects. The opportunity that the company is offering is limited to the territories of Canada.

Being a consultant comes with a recurring fee for a website subscription. 

Although it is optional, it is highly needed so you can establish your online presence as the company’s consultant. 

Also, Sunset Gourmet’s compensation plan is not readily available with full details especially on the matter of the company’s team and leadership bonus programs. I wonder why this is lacking. 

The company’s income disclosure statement or related statement is not also available. This is a problem because we have repeatedly mentioned in our previous MLM review that across the MLM industry income earnings for most consultants are really on the losing end.

We are talking here of a 1% success rate in terms of your chance of earning a full-time income and about a 50% chance of earning nothing at all. If these important points don’t apply to Sunset Gourmet, then we don’t see that the company is making an effort to prove otherwise because it has no income disclosure statement.

With this important information lacking, then you can ask your sponsor about these things before deciding whether or not to get involved.

If you get the same figures about the income earnings of average consultants in Sunset Gourmet and you see that only the top 1% were actually earning a full-time income which is very likely, then I must say that such a party plan business could not be for you as there are other businesses that can give you a better chance of earning enough for your financial needs.
