Some Facts About Beautycounter

Beautycounter  is a cosmetics and skincare company founded by Gregg Renfrew.

The company was born as a result of the founder’s goal to “transform the beauty industry by creating clean, high-performing skincare and makeup—while fighting to change the laws that control what can and cannot be used in products, so that everyone has access to safer beauty.”

As per Beautycounter’s profile in Wikipedia, Renfrew had previously worked with merchandising executives and television personality, Martha Stewart.

It is also noted that Beautycounter products have been on the list of Allure’s Best Beauty product recipients in previous years.

The company was founded in 2011 with headquarter in California, U.S.A. It is working with 7 experts on its Science Advisory Council to achieve its goals in formulating safe and effective products while reducing environmental exposure.

It is also actively fighting for its #betterbeauty advocacy in the U.S. Congress.

Recent reports have mentioned that Carlyle Group has acquired a majority stake in the company to promote further growth. Also, Beautycounter owns bricks-and-mortar stores.

Beautycounter is a member of the Direct Selling Association and is also listed in Better Business Bureau with A+ rating.

As a Beautycounter consultant, here are the ways to earn from the company’s business opportunity.

  1. Retail Commission

As a consultant, you can earn 25% from selling the products to your client directly or by directing them to your online shop.

  1. Personal Sales Bonus

As you increase your sales and reach a certain threshold, you can earn 5% to 10% additional in personal sales bonus.

  1. Override Commission

As you build your team, and upon reaching the minimum qualifying volume in terms of your sales and that of your team, you can earn this commission at 5% to 9% from level 1 to 3 depending on your rank.

Can You Make Money With Beautycounter?

beautycounter income disclosure

Beautycounter is one of the few MLM companies that I have reviewed that has an updated income disclosure statement.

It is available  here.

In the year 2020, here are the significant findings of the company.

“For the full year 2020, earnings for US Consultants before expenses were:

  • The average total annual income for all Consultants was $1,861.

  • 25% of Consultants had no sales and therefore earned no Commissions

  • 35% (26,205) of Consultants earned more than $500

  • 22% (16,501) of Consultants earned more than $1,000

  • 1% (679) of Consultants earned more than $30,000. The median earnings of the top 1% of Consultants was $50,365 (Average was $54,328).”

Based on these findings, we can see the median income or 50% of the consultants earn less than $1000. Also, it is not clear how much the remaining 17% of the consultants are earning. What is clear is that 1% of the consultants earned more than $30000 annually and half of this 1% earned above $50,365.

Earnings of new enrollees on their first 6 months are also presented but the figures are still short of becoming profitable in my opinion.

Looking at the consultants’ earnings in 2020, I must say that the Beautycounter opportunity is not much different from what we have already seen in other MLM companies.

Your chance of success is 1% in terms of earning a full-time income and I must say that it is not convincing enough for me to agree and endorse you in joining this business opportunity in this respect.

The Pros And Cons Of The Beautycounter Opportunity

  •  It is a legally established company that advocates for cleaner products and the future.
  •  The products are safe, performing, produced sustainably, and environment-friendly with valid certifications from independent agencies.
  • It allows you to start a business from home at a minimal cost.
  • The products are retail-viable.
  • To earn you need to sell the company products and recruit people to join the business opportunity.
  • The products are facing competition from other brands.
  • To earn a full-time income, you need to be in the upper 1% of the organization.
  • 50% of the consultants earn less than $1000 annually.

Should You Join Beautycounter?

There is no doubt that Beautycounter is a legally established company with clear directions on what it wanted to offer to its customers.

It is a company that actively fights for its advocacies and at the same time offers safe and performing products to customers.

Beautycounter is a member of the Direct Selling Association and is listed with an A+ rating by Better Business Bureau. It holds certifications from independent agencies confirming the quality and safety of the company products. I must say the products are retail viable.

The company also offers an opportunity for customers to start a business with the company at a minimal cost.

However, with numerous beauty companies in the market today offering safe and high-quality beauty products, Beautycounter is also facing tough competition in this respect.

Beautycounter’s compensation plan is relatively simple and is well-presented. It rewards retail sales as well as team-building achievements. But, looking at the company’s income disclosure statement, we did not see anything new from what we have already seen in other MLM companies’ versions.

To earn a full-time income in Beautycounter, you need to be at the top 1% of the organization. Also, 50% of the consultants earn less than $1000 annually. This basically summarizes the numbers across the MLM industry in terms of consultants’ income earnings.

Beautycounter just confirms that there is nothing new with its business opportunity offering as it brings in the same results where only the very few actually earn while the rest of its consultants are left behind.

Related posts: Mannatech, Crunchi, Sweet Mineral/No Filter Global, and Lemongrass Spa.

We cannot discount the fact that Beautycounter seeks to make a difference in bringing cleaner and performing beauty products in the market while being environment-friendly however it is a different story when we talk about its business opportunity offering on which I am not convinced of the results.

In saying that, there might be a chance for you to stand out from the crowd and make a profitable income with the Beautycounter opportunity.

How To Increase Your Chances Of Selling And Recruiting

We have learned that Beautycounter is mainly selling its products via an online presence aka a website.

The issue here is that every consultant gets a replicated website. So no website stands out in particular.

Here Is My Suggestion

How about, you as aspiring Beautyconsultant consultant would create your own website and from there drive traffic to your replicated business website?

Also, Beautycounter allows its consultants to represent other direct selling companies. That means you could increase your earnings by promoting differnt products.

With your own personal website, you are not only standing out from the crowd but it also increases your chances of recruiting as well as reaching a higher sales volume.
