What Is PartyLite?

partylite logo

PartyLite has been around for a very long time compared to similar direct selling companies.

It was founded in 1973 and is based in Norwell, Massachusetts

According to PartyLite, ..."today our company is the world’s #1 party plan company selling candles, candle holders, flameless fragrance and wax warmers, as well as holiday and home décor in 20 different countries."

Since 2016, PartyLite has been operating under the umbrella of Luminex Home Decor& Fragrance Co. which also represents the Candle - Lite Company, which has been producing candles since 1840.

Martin Koehler, former president of PartyLite Europe has been promoted to president of PartyLite worldwide in 2016 as well.

The PartyLite Products

partylite products

As the name of the company already reveals, PartyLite is a party-plan business that sells candles, candle holders, wax warmers, and home decor.

Product and business model wise, PartyLite is very similar to Scentsy, and Pink Zebra.

One of the most popular products in the PartyLite range is the GloLite candle that glow from the bottom to the top. It retails at $30.

In general, I find the products reasonably priced and in line with poducts of similar direct selling companies.

Since PartyLite is a party-plan business, they have invented the 'Find Your Signature' party experience where guests can try out different fragrances to find their favorite one.

The aim is to make the party a fun and interactive event, and of course, to increase party sales.

PartyLite offers hostess rewards like sales credits and half-price items.

The PartyLite Guarantee

The PartyLite Satisfaction Guarantee is missing a few things, in my opinion.

It is not mentioned what the policy covers when a customer doesn't like the look of their chosen product or dislike the fragrance etc. Sometimes, customers rather recieve a refund then a replacement.

But nothing has been mentioned in the 'Satisfaction Guarantee.'

How To Join PartyLite

partylite starter kit

As you can see in the screenshot, there are two options for new consultants to join.

The first option enables you to join online and pay $79 for the Quick Start Kit. You'll earn 25% commisssion on your first sales.

The second option offers you to start for free with no initial start-up costs but of course, the money will be withdrawn from your first party sales.

You can join using this option by getting in touch with a PartyLite consultant. You can not sign-up online.

PartyLite offers training tools and support for new consultants. They send out an email series with tips and guides to get new distributors off to a successful start.

There is also the PartyLite Training Academy and access to training videos e.g. how to hold a party.

You'll also get a replicated website but I couldn't find any details how much it costs on a monthly basis.

The PartyLite Compensation Plan?

partylite compensation plan

PartyLite's compensation plan is easy to understand. The base commission on sales, whether online or in-home parties is 22%. Once you reach over $2800 in sales, a 6% bonus payment applies.

Once you are starting to recruit new consultants into your team, your commission payments can increase up to 33%.

Unlike MLM companies, commission payments in a direct-selling company are focused on sales.

But in order to earn passive income, you have to recruit also.

There are nine ranks to achieve:

  1. Consultant
  2. Unit Leader
  3. Senior Unit Leader
  4. Group Leader
  5. District Leader
  6. Regional Leader
  7. Regional Vice President
  8. Senior Regional Vice President
  9. Executive Regional VicePresident

Can You Actually Make Money With PartyLite

partylite comp plan

This question is not easy to answer because PartyLite has yet to publish an income disclosure.

Speaking from personal experience and reviewing countless direct selling and MLM companies, the majority of distributors don't even earn enough to cover monthly expenses.

The party plan industry is not easy because not too many people like to host parties. Distributors also have to take travel expenses into account and have to pay for business tools like flyers, and catalogues.

Unless you  are holding lots of paries a month and are able to recruit a few people into the business who are very active, chances of earning a full-time income a month are slim.

I would love to hear from any PartyLite consultants about their experience. Please feel free to leave a comment below this post.

Let's have a quick look at the pros and cons of the PartyLite income opportunity.

The Pros Of PartyLite

  • The start-up costs are reasonable. You can even get started without paying a fee.
  • PartyLite is a long-standing direct selling business with quality products.
  • The products are affordable.
  • PartyLite is BBB accredited but has no reviews (!)

Here Are The Cons Of PartyLite

  • There is no income disclosure available.
  • It is not clear if any additional monthly costs have to be paid by the distributor.
  • Party Plan is a bit outdated in our busy society.
  • The Satisfaction Guarantee could be more detailed with a refund option.

Wrapping It Up

There are a few things I like about PartyLite. The products seem to be of good quality, and are not too pricey.

The company has over 40 years of experience in the direct selling industry and is now available in 20 countries.

But, the party plan industry is a bit outdated and it takes a lot of effort to have enough parties a month to make a full-time income.

Your income will also rely on how many people you can sponsor into your team and how active they are as well.

It can be frustrating to deal with party postponements, and team members giving up after a short time.

Here is what I would recommend to earn money with PartyLite ...

How To Sell PartyLite (And Other Products) And Make Money - My Favorite Business Model

There is still a way to sell PartyLite and, as a matter of fact, any other products you'd like to promote and actually make money with it.

It is called affiliate marketing where you promote products you like via your own website and earn a commission for each product that sells via your link.

Sounds complicated? It may sound complicated but it is a pretty straightforward process. Best of all, you don't need to own these products physically.

The key to success is to have your OWN website/blog.

That means you can build your own personal brand by creating a fashion blog, a lifestyle blog, a 'mom' blog, or  a blog dedicated to candles and home decor ideas.

Doing it this way, enables you to promote any product you like, not just PartyLite.

There are literally hundreds of companies out there which have an affiliate program and sell home decor products, candles, and the likes. The good news is that you  don't have to pay a joining fee to become an affiliate at all.

Here is an example of companies you could promote and earn money with.

These are three companies out of hundreds that offer affiliate programs with no joining fee. The commission rate varies from 10% up to 30% and often more.

You can find them on ShareASale, where thousands of companies with different products offer their affiliate links.
